Backline presented the second annual Handle With Care World Mental Health Day Benefit Concert: A Tom Petty Tribute featuring performances by Wynonna Judd and Charles Kelley of Lady A, singing Petty songs. It was held on October 10th at the Brooklyn Bowl, in Nashville, TN.
Wynonna hit the stage first and didn't let us down with her powerful renditions of Breakdown and Refugee. We were treated to Breakdown twice because she forgot the lyrics and wanted to get it right. She also spoke of not being afraid or embarrassed to reach out to a mental health care provider when in need. And the tragic loss of her beloved mother Naomi Judd. Charles Kelley was up next performing Petty's Southern Accents to a cheering crowd.
Backline is a non-profit that connects music industry professionals and their families with mental health and wellness resources. We want to build a safer and more supportive music industry by helping our community access quality mental health care providers who understand this line of work. Handle With Care concert was presented by Master Tour, the music industry’s leading software for touring and logistics, Gateway Studios & Production Services, a world-class live touring rehearsal complex and production services company, and ACM Lifting Lives the philanthropic partner of the Academy of Country Music.
