MuttNation Foundation proudly announces the Miranda Lambert New Shelter Grant, in honor of three-time GRAMMY award winner and New York Times best-selling author Miranda Lambert, who co-founded the celebrated nonprofit with her mother, Bev Lambert, in 2009. MuttNation Foundation’s mission is to advance the adoption of shelter pets, promote spay and neuter, and assist during times of natural disaster.

The Miranda Lambert New Shelter Grant is awarded in the spirit of giving a “paw” up to an organization that has recently opened after proving they’ve done the hard work necessary to achieve lift-off. The inaugural Miranda Lambert New Shelter Grants were awarded to two Tennessee organizations: Crossroads Campus and Wags & Walks.

“So many great people were there for me when I was getting started, people who believed in what I was doing, and it meant so much to me,” said Lambert. “I’m proud to be able to be there now, for some of the great organizations that are just getting off the ground. I know how much passion and hard work goes into it – it starts as a dream and the work is rewarding… and endless. I have so much respect for the people who make it happen.”

Crossroads Campus, located in Nashville, partners young adults who face barriers to employment and housing, including young people who have aged out of foster care, with shelter pets at risk for euthanasia. The youth reside on the north Nashville ‘campus’ and pay rent based on their income. In addition to caring for homeless pets awaiting adoption, they are also provided with career guidance and the opportunity to work at Crossroads in a variety of capacities, including learning pet grooming skills.

Wags & Walks, which has opened its new adoption facility in Hermitage, Tenn., has helped find homes for over 3,500 dogs since it first opened its Nashville operation as a rescue in 2019. Now a full-fledged adoption center, Wags & Walks houses up to 100 dogs between their adoption center and foster homes as they prepare for their new forever homes. Wags & Walks is focused on advocating for wrongfully stereotyped bully breeds, medical dogs and mothers with puppies that are often overlooked and at-risk due to overcrowding.

The Miranda Lambert New Shelter Grant was created by the MuttNation Foundation Board of Directors to help more pets and the people and organizations who care for them while honoring Lambert’s lifetime of love and dedication to animals. There is no application process for the Miranda Lambert New Shelter Grant; recipients are selected by the Board of Directors.
