The “Margaritaville” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise” icon died peacefully surrounded by his family, friends, music, and dogs, according to a statement posted to his social media accounts.

He'll be especially missed by his devoted following of so-called Parrot Heads.

Buffett was also an accomplished author, having topped both The Times’s fiction and nonfiction best-seller lists.

Jimmy moved to Nashville in 1970, trying to make it as a country singer while working as a journalist for Billboard magazine. “Down to Earth,” his debut album, was released on Andy Williams’s Barnaby label that year. It only sold 324 copies.
