Legendary singer and songwriter Jimmy Buffett died on September 1st at the age of 76 after struggling with skin cancer since 2022. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Jane Slagsvol Buffett, daughters, Savanah Jane Buffett and Sarah Buffett, and son, Cameron Buffett.
The “Margaritaville” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise” icon died peacefully surrounded by his family, friends, music, and dogs, according to a statement posted to his social media accounts.
He'll be especially missed by his devoted following of so-called Parrot Heads.
Buffett was also an accomplished author, having topped both The Times’s fiction and nonfiction best-seller lists.
Jimmy moved to Nashville in 1970, trying to make it as a country singer while working as a journalist for Billboard magazine. “Down to Earth,” his debut album, was released on Andy Williams’s Barnaby label that year. It only sold 324 copies.
