Country music legend Garth Brooks came to Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City Tuesday for a big announcement.
"We need a launchpad for what might be the coolest radio station on the planet," Brooks said after announcing Tailgate Radio on Tune In.
The goal: Putting sports and music together - featuring everything going on before and after the game.
The channel will feature "switch" technology, playing a high-energy multi-genre mix of music before switching directly into listening to your game.
The idea was born from old-school party mix tapes. Brooks said for this kind of party, Kansas City made perfect sense for the announcement.
"Kansas City kind of gave me my life," Brooks said. His mother was born here. One of his first events was here.
Brooks is also sticking around to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at tonight's Kansas City Royals game.
